Foreign trade relations of Hungary with China: A global value chain perspective

Abstract Trade analysis for open economies is strategically important. Even though Hungarian trade relations are oriented towards the EU, direct and indirect influence of Asia, mainly China, needs special attention. The paper focuses on bilateral between Hungary China. global value chain perspective enables research to detect inter- intra-industry dependencies unfold compare industry dynamics backward forward linkages 2000 2018. We used a mixed methodology, combining input-output with company case studies based wide range literature both from Chinese East-Central European researchers. findings support significance relations, highlight restructuring China over past twenty years, indicate strong concentration in terms number companies.
